This simple black T-shirt marks the 61st Day of my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge and bears the logo of Aphex Twin - the alias of extraordinarily alternative musician and audio engineer Richard D. James - from the cover of his album Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Well, it’s almost the same logo from the cover; this version has some scratch/splatter style distortion and the Aphex Twin title beneath in a rubbish font.
James rarely tours much, and when he does it's usually without extensive promotion or hype so witnessing him at work is a rarity, so much so that I've yet to achieve it. I’m unlikely to any time soon either, as for the past few years he’s been shut away preparing no less than 10 new albums.
The closest I've ever come to seeing him play first hand was back in 2003 when an acquaintance went to Glastonbury festival and picked up this T-shirt for me, despite James not actually performing that year (he was last there 6 years prior to this T-shirt purchase).
I realise that that in no way constitutes having seem him perform or even come close…
The tee is a little long, pretty worn out from years of wear, but is still a worthy contribution to my challenge.
