Day 204

The evolution of man has made countless appearances on T-shirts ever since man was first able to wear T-shirts. The standard design format sees a sequence of silhouettes beginning with a simple chimp on the left working his way along to a fully upright bloke on his way to Ladbrookes on the right.
Naturally, the concept has been perpetuated with creative revisions over time, such as exploring the chimp's past life as an amoeba, and considering the bloke's future as a heavily armed 20 foot tall, armed, robotic killing machine.
But as Alistair of London based Beckett & Beckett has shown me, the T-shirt can be home to other evolutionary scales as well, especially ones where a fantastic pun will ensue.

For Day 204 of my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge I have been donated this debut T-shirt from Beckett & Beckett fresh from the screen printing table. It's a brand new design only recently created by the retailer and can be purchased at both Greenwich and Spitalfields markets, along with their many other quality designs printed on ethically sourced materials.
The text footing the artwork across the chest and indeed its transition from regular into bold print helps quantify the concept at play here - the evolution of man using the metaphor of bicycles, or rather, the evolution of a single man using illustrations of the bikes he would have owned throughout his lifecycle.

Of course, several years from now when Alistair comes to refresh this design given the equipment present in the future, there will actually be six bikes in the sequence, the final one being a 20ft tall, armed, robotic killing machine.
