The artwork on today's donated tee was created by a man named Paul Bacon and that alone is enough of a reason to like it.
It was sent to me by Jenna of Brooklyn-based Out Of Print - her second donation to my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge.
Originally this artwork appeared on the cover of the novel Catch 22 written by Joseph Heller, and is essentially a large blue patch of sky with a red bloke in the bottom left corner. The story features airmen of the Second World War and sets the premiss for the now widely used term 'Catch 22' - a situation where both the action and inaction you take to resolve a problem presents yet another or the same problem. The airmen in the story contemplate declaring themselves insane so as to not participate in further combat, but the test to prove one's insanity is to actively volunteer for further combat. Similarly, I ordered a large fries yesterday instead of my usual regular, knowing full well that I wouldn’t be able to comfortably finish them, and yet, to truly know that, I’d have to purchase and eat them all, so I can totally empathise with those doomed WWII pilots.
In short, today’s T-shirt is all about being screwed.
The rest of the Out Of Print T-shirt stock also depict full-canvas prints of famous and classic book covers.
