Day 258

Never underestimate the determination of the supermarket clothing aisle.
OK, more often than not, the supermarket's own garment brands found adjacent to the fruit and veg are pretty naff; mere imitations of the trends seen in the shop windows and store fronts of any major clothing labels up the highstreet. But occasionally they'll do something interesting enough that it makes me put down the melons I'm handling and wander across the way to the T-shirt rails.
Day 258 of my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge features a direct result of such melon abandoning; a purchase I made from the ASDA George line about a hundred years ago.

The design is all about the bustling metropolis that is New York City created from an intriguing blend of both heat-transferred graphics and illustrative stitching. The graphic portrays an outlook view of some anonymous street filled with grid-locked traffic that leaves a passing taxi cropped at its edge. A nifty seamstress has stepped in and completed the absent portion of the vehicle with her sewing machine, as if working from some sort of freestyle dot-to-dot puzzle.
The text "NYC Weekend" is present at the base of the image to add a little geographical clarity to the design.

As you can see, this T-shirt has been around the (NYC) block a few times, faded from the strain of the city and is more cracked than the sidewalks in the boroughs. I've owned it for many many years now and should probably decommission it from my outfit roster after this final wear for my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge, to be replaced perhaps by another eye-catcher over the cucumber basket next year.

THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE Project

Hi, I’m Andi Best and I’m a regular guy, rising to an irregular challenge.

People tell me I have a lot of T-shirts. These people are not wrong, it’s true, I do.

But one person went as far as to tell me I have so many T-shirts, I could probably wear a different one every day. This is obviously not true, but it got me thinking - what if I could wear a different T-shirt every day? What if I never wore the same T-shirt twice for an entire year?

Challenge accepted

I have created project THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE which, beginning January 1st 2013, will track my pro gress sourcing and wearing a different T-shirt every day for the next 365 days – and I’m going to need your help to do it…
