'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the field,
Every creature was stirring; to form a defensive shield;
Quite what Christmas Eve and a ruthless line-up of rugby playing animals have in common, I’m not sure. Perhaps a couple of the forwards are reindeer? Perhaps the pairing is a nod towards that animated animal football scene from Bed Knobs And Broomsticks which is likely to be on telly around this time of the year? Perhaps I could make some sort of parable between a stampede and the last minute Christmas Eve shopping run? I don’t know. Either way, today’s donated T-shirt from Max at IdiotGenius features a sporting safari of lions, monkeys, elephants and more, assembled in attack formation out on a rugby pitch. In uniformed striped attire, these beasts have been illustrated in great detail on a canvas comprised of yet more stripes scratched back and forth in a very faint grey tone throughout the entire garment.
As with the other IdiotGenius T-shirts to appear in this back-to-back marathon so far, this is another random design; its origins and concept as obscure as my decision to wear it on Christmas Eve, but it’s very intriguing none the less, and isn’t that what Christmas is all about? A convoluted mess of confusion and jungle creatures?
