Day 133

There’s been a lot of talk lately about The Great Gatsby, especially over at T-shirt retailer Out Of Print. If you head over to the Out Of Print website you’ll see that they’ve put together an entire Gatsby channel celebrating the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel and its forthcoming cinematic re-imagining, which is due for release in the UK any day now. On the channel is a fantastic Flash game that gives players an opportunity to access special offers and discounts on a host of Gatsby T-shirts, including the one I’m wearing today.

Today’s T-shirt is a staggering FIFTH donation from Jenna of the classic novel tee outlet, pushing my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE project forward an incredible distance through the calendar – I am hugely grateful for the gesture!

The artwork on the tee is that of the original The Great Gatsby publication painted by Francis Cugat. Cugat completed the image so far in advance of the novel being finished that the author had time to reference it directly in the story as a striking billboard design. It depicts a beautifully drawn abstract cityscape above which floats the disembodied face of character Daisy Buchanan.

THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE Project

Hi, I’m Andi Best and I’m a regular guy, rising to an irregular challenge.

People tell me I have a lot of T-shirts. These people are not wrong, it’s true, I do.

But one person went as far as to tell me I have so many T-shirts, I could probably wear a different one every day. This is obviously not true, but it got me thinking - what if I could wear a different T-shirt every day? What if I never wore the same T-shirt twice for an entire year?

Challenge accepted

I have created project THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE which, beginning January 1st 2013, will track my pro gress sourcing and wearing a different T-shirt every day for the next 365 days – and I’m going to need your help to do it…
