Day 143

One of the hardest parts about preparing for a wedding abroad is knowing what to do with your Mystery Package.*
I mean, how can you pack for an entire holiday when one of the garments required has to remain a complete mystery until the moment you put it on?
Sure, I could have closed my eyes, delved into the bag, extracted a random tee, blindly stumbled towards the suitcase, missed it, wandered into the bathroom, packed it in the toilet, slipped on a sponge, knocked myself out on the basin, all in the name of preserving the surprise, though this is fraught with problems.
Or I could have packed the entire Mystery Package at the expense of other more necessary wedding items that would then no longer be able to join us due to their breaching the luggage weight allowance, and carry out the usual teasing reveal on the day of wear.
I chose to do the latter.
So, with the complete Mystery Package at my disposal, I can now make a fully spontaneous extraction with a write-up completely untainted by foresight.
Here goes.
Please be a Mindless Self Indulgence T-shirt. Please be a Mindless Self Indulgence T-shirt. Please be a Mindless Self Indulgence T-shirt.

Well, this is not a Mindless Self Indulgence T-shirt. But it is an OK Go T-shirt and it is a belter!
Yes!
The Mystery Package done good once again - this theory about cracking it open on a Thursday rather than a Friday is certainly proving its worth - this is now the second week in a row that I've adjusted the feature date of the package and been rewarded by a tee that does not make me want to throw bricks in my own face, all the while impeding Matt's winning streak.

So today I shall be wearing this baby-blue T-shirt bearing an illustration inspired by the video of track This Too Shall Pass. If you're unfamiliar with OK Go, they are a band who have painted themselves into a bit of a creative corner; each single they release is accompanied by a video so stunning and well executed that it goes viral (remember the treadmill dance?), resulting in them having to work twice as hard to top it with their next release.
The video for This Too Shall Pass boasts a single take of an over-sized Rube Goldberg machine playing out from modest start to extravagant finish, featuring an array of objects and constructions including shopping trolleys, mannequins and parasols, as depicted in today's design.

Wow, another tasty slice of greatness served up from the Mystery Package for me, and a great big bowl of his own words to eat for Matt!

*For a proper introduction to the Mystery Package, have a re-read of the post just after Day 102.

THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE Project

Hi, I’m Andi Best and I’m a regular guy, rising to an irregular challenge.

People tell me I have a lot of T-shirts. These people are not wrong, it’s true, I do.

But one person went as far as to tell me I have so many T-shirts, I could probably wear a different one every day. This is obviously not true, but it got me thinking - what if I could wear a different T-shirt every day? What if I never wore the same T-shirt twice for an entire year?

Challenge accepted

I have created project THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE which, beginning January 1st 2013, will track my pro gress sourcing and wearing a different T-shirt every day for the next 365 days – and I’m going to need your help to do it…
