I've been a fan of Kate Moross' work ever since I saw coverage of her illustrative work adorning the shop window of Oxford Street's major branch of Topshop 5 years ago. The installation was drawn live by Moross as customers filled the store behind her to buy clothing she had designed for the highstreet brand.
Her large scale installation consisted of large black and white doodles that formed a landscape of geometric patterns and abstract circuit diagrams, flowing effortlessly across the floors and walls.
Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of this display was that she was still studying for her degree at the time, making her very hot property quite early in her career. Since then, Morros' portfolio has exploded with commissions from major household brands and her own endeavours have seen her take on a number of ambitious projects, including starting her own art-driven record label. Basically, she's a pretty big deal.
I was thrilled when Liv from the agency representing Kate Moross agreed to donate some tees bearing her design work to my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge! The first to appear in my blog is this red garment for Day 261, featuring exactly the sort of geometric aesthetic I expected to see. Curiously the print on this tee is offset towards the base of the canvas, causing an usual void around the chest and shoulders, but making playful use of the available space.
The triple triangle emblem is actually more of a logo, and can be found on her website and social networking profiles. Also on her website are full extracts from her portfolio of design.
