Day 210

Up until 1991, Pan American World Airways was arguably the most prolific and intuitive international airline commanding the skies. They were technological pioneers of their era; the first to make widespread use of jet aircraft as well as computerised seat booking systems. And as if that wasn't enough, the glamour attributed to the flight attendant lifestyle and the aesthetics of their approach as an airline helped secure the company's reputation as being a cultural icon of the 20th Century. The company branding played a large role in that latter achievement, stemming from the instantly recognisable globe logo that features on today's THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge T Shirt, albeit usually in block colour blue rather than outlined green.

Richard of online clothing retailer 8ball.co.uk has donated this excellent nostalgic design T Shirt to my challenge from their extensive collection of high quality men's, women's and kid's movie and music T Shirt ranges. With a distressed effect throughout, this grass green tee features an oversized print of the Pan Am logo across the whole front canvas. It's available in a variety of colours and sizes and is sold at a fantastically reasonable price under the Retro area of the 8ball.co.uk website.

Unfortunately the airline went bankrupt in 1991 when a young lad impersonating a Pan Am pilot discovered that whilst taking a bath with several of the airline's gift shop model planes, the steamy conditions caused the logo transfers on the tail fins to come off, making them ideal for repurposing on phony cheques of large sums that the rogue employee would then cash out.

You could say that this landed the company in hot water. But if you did, nobody will laugh.

THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE Project

Hi, I’m Andi Best and I’m a regular guy, rising to an irregular challenge.

People tell me I have a lot of T-shirts. These people are not wrong, it’s true, I do.

But one person went as far as to tell me I have so many T-shirts, I could probably wear a different one every day. This is obviously not true, but it got me thinking - what if I could wear a different T-shirt every day? What if I never wore the same T-shirt twice for an entire year?

Challenge accepted

I have created project THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE which, beginning January 1st 2013, will track my pro gress sourcing and wearing a different T-shirt every day for the next 365 days – and I’m going to need your help to do it…
