Yesterday, my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge crossed the five month mark, meaning that I've worn 152 unique T-shirts in as many days, with no repeats, no re-washing, and no regrets. I'm sure you'll agree this is a massive achievement, a huge step towards my goal and a display of amazing effort from everyone who has donated a tee or two. Without you lot, my challenge would probably have run into the ground during the first month, so thank you everyone for all that you've done.
Special mention must go to those who have taken extra steps to ensure my challenge has been kept alive - those who have donated tees from the other side of the world, those who have encouraged others to read about my challenge and donate tees, and those who have purposefully gone out of their way to source tees just for my challenge - you people are the greatest of all.
On that subject, I'll ask you to cast your minds back to Day 108, when I wore a T-shirt that just a few days previously had been hanging in a store in China. It came all the way to me via the suitcase of my friend Alicia who had taken a holiday out in the Far East earlier this year. Whilst over there, she was awesome enough to buy a couple of T-shirts especially for my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge, one of which is featured today for Day 153.
As you can see, it is quintessentially Chinese. All the elements are there - there's some lingo in the unmistakable Chinese character set, there are cartoon characters of indistinguishable relevance and there is a hint of casual violence.
The story goes that character Black just lamped character White over the bonce until a throbbing red lump formed. Satisfied that the injury is evident, character White made the amusing quip "That'll teach me for attempting to refrigerate the milk!".
OK, I don't actually know what amusing quip character White has made; it's like trying read Chinese. But if anyone out there has got some idea of what's going on in this design, or like me would like to have a stab at it, please drop me a line to clear things up. I'll make an edit at the end of this post with the best insights.
