Back on Day 8 of my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge, I spoke of my glorious Babel line find in a remote camping store somewhere among London’s winding side streets.
In the weeks that followed that purchase, the vision of those beautifully illustrated T-shirts didn’t seem to want to leave my mind – an action that surely justified buying another?
But the problem with aimlessly wandering around London is that I tend not to accurately record any information about where I am or how I got there. It transpires that this information is fundamental when attempting to revisit somewhere I’ve been before and it actually took months of dropping the little orange Google Maps man on random patches of London’s knotted roadways before I rediscovered the store’s location.
A second visit to the store resulted in me walking away with this tee entitled ’Good Morning London’.
The T-shirt features another highly detailed illustration showing a tightly-packed array of hundreds of pesky and troublesome road signs and other obstacles a motorist is likely to encounter on their daily commute, including a vat of cyanide.
As well as the simple black-line sketchwork, this design also has a screen print of white washed over some of the key details.
The drawing style and even the subject matter are both similar to that of my own work, which is probably what drew me to this T-shirt.
I shall definitely try to remember where they keep this store this time.
