Day 69

Around 10 years ago, I made my first ever trip to Camden market with the intent of authenticating my 'Alternative' demeanour by purchasing apparel of the grunge/skater-boy persuasion that consumed me back then, and lets face it, still does today.
I was accompanied by two classmates who were already well-seasoned Camden casualties; their attire virtually cut and paste out of any Green Day music video going. As such, I felt I needed to make an effort to blend in, so beneath my black hoodie and onto my war-torn jeans, I affixed a long loop of arbitrary chain, as was made mandatory by the London Transport Committee for permission to disembark the tube at Camden Town.
Riding the tube, a friendly recorded announcement told us that our destination would be the next stop, so naturally we stood from our seats. Well, those of us who weren't chained to our seats, stood from them.
I attempted to stand, but was either repelled back downward, or involuntarily removed my jeans.
The next several minutes and couple of missed stops were spent by my friends trying to free my unaccustomed trouser accessory from the mess it had inexplicably become entangled in.
Looking back on it, the likelihood of this happening had to be cosmically remote; the chain had burrowed down between two tight seat cushions, aligned each link perfectly to slip between two plains of metal and then knot itself on the other side.
It seemed I had angered the Alternative subculture by not being a true member. Their karma was out to get me. I was being punished by Satan's trousers!

Eventually we did free my jeans and made it to market; one friend revelling in the gasps of awe and acknowledgement he received from the open slash across his left palm.

Among the purchases I made from the stalls that day was this Blink 182 T-shirt featuring their recently revived punk bunny motif; the transfer completely cracked and knackered after 10 years of wear.
I’ve chosen to wear this T-shirt today especially for Mother’s Day, owing to the band having a track of the same name. Though I strongly discourage all of you from making the mistake I just made – do not actually play said track for your mother as she sits down to have lunch with you and the family.

THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE Project

Hi, I’m Andi Best and I’m a regular guy, rising to an irregular challenge.

People tell me I have a lot of T-shirts. These people are not wrong, it’s true, I do.

But one person went as far as to tell me I have so many T-shirts, I could probably wear a different one every day. This is obviously not true, but it got me thinking - what if I could wear a different T-shirt every day? What if I never wore the same T-shirt twice for an entire year?

Challenge accepted

I have created project THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE which, beginning January 1st 2013, will track my pro gress sourcing and wearing a different T-shirt every day for the next 365 days – and I’m going to need your help to do it…
