My gymnastics experience probably differs greatly from that of the intended wearers of today's T-shirt, donated to my THREEHUNDREDANDSIXTEEFIVE challenge by Custom Ink. Right now, People around the train carriage are eyeing up the Above The Bar logo text and athletic humanoid icon printed on my chest, and knotting their brows in confusion as they fail to find any cohesion between it and its wearer. I suppose if one were to observe a gymnast on a train, they'd expect to see him or her swinging effortlessly between the overhead hand rungs or cartwheeling over the gap between the train and the platform, but as I'm doing neither of those things, the disapproving looks from my fellow commuters can be forgiven.
My career as a gymnast ended during secondary school on an unavoidable indoor PE term rotation. Week after week, I would persistently fail to climb on anything, jump over anything, land on anything properly or conduct myself with any ounce of grace whatsoever, longing instead for the embarrassment to be over and for the badminton rotation to come around again, because badminton is one of the simplest things you can ever possibly do without instruction or criticism.
So it is with tremendous irony that I wear this Above The Bar gymnast academy T-shirt today, printed by Virginia based Custom Ink who, as their previous donations to my challenge indicate, are the favoured T-shirt printing service for small businesses and organisations across America.
